RTU team wins IBM Business Run 2012

Team leader Ilze Buksa tells: „The competition run for 6 weeks where each week we had to submit documents with various solutions for a given enterprise description.

First task was to analyse as-is situations, then to model process improvements and to give to-be situation’s description. We had to provide system’s specification and IT solution's proposal based on to-be situation. At the end we had to calculate time and cost estimates for the solution we suggested to implement.

After submission of all the tasks we received announcement that we have to participate final of the competition which took place on May 18^th, Vilnius, Lithuania.

In the final 5 teams participated: 3 from Lithuania, 1 from Estonia and we were the only one team representing Latvia there.

We had to present our project and answer tricky questions of IBM representatives. Great team spirit, competence and professionalism as well as a sense of humor helped us to win!”

Comments of team members about participation in IBM Business Run 2012:

Ilze: I feel proud that I had chance to represent RTU in international competitions and win. Tasks were not easy and it took quite time to provide solutions, thus I feel so grateful for great team spirit, which definitely helped as to make it to the final and win. Without such a great team, it would not be possible.

Juris: The victory in the international competition gives me a great pleasure especially because we were the only team from Latvia which reached the final stage of the competition. I would like to thank every team member for the enthusiasm, completed work and sleepless nights

Pēteris : During the „IBM Business Run 2012” I gained valuable experience in real-life business case analysis and solution design. More than 4 weeks long work showed the power of a professional team.

Uldis: It was a great honor to participate and win this contest under name of the RTU. Such contests definitely should be more popularized and supported by universities!
